After a year or so away from the awards scene, Hatch once again dusted off our tuxedos and ball gowns for the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire PRide awards, which took place in Leeds at the end of November.

This year, to ease us back onto the award scene so to speak, we entered into just one category and this was for the ‘Best Use Of Media Relations’. We have always entered into awards we think we can win, but when the nominations were announced for this year’s awards, we didn’t think we stood a cat in hell’s chance of winning to be perfectly honest, as there was such strong competition.

Our campaign was for our work with the Pompey Supporters Trust, who worked tirelessly to win an extensive battle to purchase their beloved Portsmouth FC back from owners who had sunk the club into a huge amount of debt and the threat of non-existence. We were brought in to work with the Trust to win the battle with the media and use our relationships with the sports press to ensure the right story was being told.

I think most people know that the story ended with the Trust winning the battle, which was a huge success for both the club and football in general. For us to win a Gold at the PRide awards was the icing on the cake. It’s always nice to win awards in our industry, but in our view, the Media Relations category has always been an award to treasure. It’s a campaign that the team are extremely proud to say they were involved in, so much so that we even bought a share of the club as a company!

We might enter this into a few more awards now. Why not?
