This summer’s highly anticipated Great British Pea Week saw the Yes Peas! team take peas to the Big Smoke with our pea-inspired pop-up café!

We have worked with Yes Peas!, a group of industry professionals from the pea vining sector, for over three years now and each year we host a celebration of the British pea harvest in July – Great British Pea Week. This year was definitely the biggest and best #GBPW yet!

We set off down to London with our trusty 7-Speed Vendor in tow, all ready to serve some Pea, Mint & Honey ice cream, lovingly homemade by our Yes Peas! ambassador, TV chef Rachel Green. Hatchlings Holly and Lucy sped round London on Wednesday with the vintage tricycle, serving samples to press all over the city. The verdict? Pretty delicious!

Open for one day and one day only on Thursday 12th July, the Yes Peas! team brought the pop up The Pea Place to London – a café serving only frozen pea recipes located just off Brick Lane. Serving vegetarian dishes, the café was a pea-inspired delight and we welcomed over 1,000 customers throughout the day.

Rachel spent two straight days in our kitchen, preparing some delicious food, including:

  • Pea, Apple, Melon, Cucumber and Ginger Smoothie
  • Pea, Feta and Basil Frittata
  • Peas & Avocado on Toast served with Ricotta, Lemon & Mint
  • Asian Pea, Quinoa, Radish & Caramelised Shallot Salad
  • Ultimate Pea Hummus
  • Pea & Aubergine Curry with Coconut Yogurt
  • Pea, Mint & Honey Ice Cream

We had an amazing response from the public – we sampled over 1,200 dishes and at one point had a queue out the door to try our amazing recipes!

Throughout Great British Pea Week, we successfully secured over 40 pieces of coverage with over 7 million opportunities to see, including The Grocer, BBC Good Food, Daily Express, the Londonist, The People’s Friend, Fresh Produce Journal and Farmer’s Guardian. Our  #GreatBritishPeaWeek hashtag also achieved over 5 million timeline deliveries across the seven days!
