This week has been a very busy week for the triathlon team, as we have been whizzing around the country to help promote Triathlon England’s activation programme.
During the triathlon Olympic Games, Triathlon England launched their Triathlon Live sites in eight cities across the UK, including the BT London Live in Hyde Park. The sites allowed the public to come down and ‘Give triathlon a Tri’ whilst watching the action unfold on the BBC Big Screens.
We were tasked with speaking with local councils to get them on board to help us promote the sites, and encourage people to come down and join the Triathlon England teams at each site. We carried out regional and national press activity, and invited journalists to come along and ‘give it a tri’ for themselves in the Endless Pools, which have a stimulated current so everyone can swim at their own level. They then got onto the bike and treadmill to carry out the next disciplines of a triathlon. At the sites, we tweeted live updates and images of people ‘giving it a tri’, along with engaging with the crowds watching the action and showing their for Team GB, including the successful (and Yorkshire’s own!) Brownlee brothers!
The sites have really inspired many to think about training for triathlons and enter races whether it be for a challenge, just for fun or for some serious training programme. It has even got some of the Hatch team thinking about taking it up…
