It’s that time of year again where we report on our annual staff trip. Now you’ll probably think its all drink, fun, antics and more drink so you’ll be surprised to know that…it was the same again. This year, we swapped the warm climate of Ibiza for the icy wind of Reykjavik.

Iceland is an incredible place – so much to see. The enchanting Northern Lights can be seen on a clear night, viewing strokkur erupting at the famous Geysir is a sight to behold and enjoying the magnificent waterfall Gullfoss, otherwise known as the Golden Waterfall, is one of life’s must-do activities.

Did we see any of that….? Of course not. On our way out to see if we could see the Northern Lights (in the middle of the City!), we saw Iceland’s most famous English Pub. In fact, we saw a lot of it. They sell Crabbie’s and there was constant live music. No other points are needed here other than the Northern Lights didn’t appear that night (Not that we know of anyway!)

Taking our “Brits Abroad” hats off, we did embrace the culture on the first evening with some extreme Icelandic tapas, which involved the team tasting delicacies such as Whale and Puffin. To some, it was a similar experience to a bush-tukka trial. Without Ant and Dec.

I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say the Blue Lagoon was an experience of a lifetime. Despite couples seamlessly enjoying it a little bit too much near us, bathing in the unique water and applying silica mud to our skin in one of the wonders of the world was something to remember. Although I have to say watching our fearless MD lose his locker wristband in cloudy water not once, but twice, was a particular highlight.

That brings an end to this insightful guide to Iceland. In summary, try Icelandic Tapas, drink in the English Pub, pretend you’ve seen the sights and please, don’t have sex in the Blue Lagoon.
